Starting this project, I had a thought that it could be interesting to sew a piece of fruit into a pocket made of fabric--seeing as it would decay over time. The main decision I had to make was which fruit would be the best choice. Many were too round and wouldn’t have given interest to the final form. I decided to choose a banana because the form was something distinguished. It also provided a comedic element and I felt the fibrous peel related more to the fabric. I chose to use white fabric for several reasons. The white fabric presented an idealistic pure form but also provided a strange contrast when it started to decay. It also gave it the impression of something that was wrapped in cloth after it died and had sort of an unintentional dark humor to it.
